"Movement should be approached like life - with enthusiasm, joy and gratitude - for movement is life, and life is movement, and we get out of it what we put into it." -Ron Fletcher
Ron Fletcher
Ron Fletcher studied with Joseph and Clara Pilates for over 2 decades - beginning in 1948 - and is recognized around the world as one of the few true proteges and Masters of the Pilates method. In a now-famous letter penned by Clara Pilates just after her husband's death, she encouraged Ron Fletcher to further develop the physical conditioning method she and her husband had created by building on its original foundation.
A former Martha Graham dancer, Broadway performer and lead choreographer of The International Ice Capades, Fletcher left New York City for Los Angeles where, in 1971, he opened the Ron Fletcher Studio for Body Contrology, introducing the Pilates method to the west coast.
Fletcher's Beverly Hills studio instantly drew the attention of Hollywood stars and celebrities and it was in Los Angeles that he began refining and developing the work that has ultimately became known as Fletcher Pilates®.
The international Pilates and movement therapy community has recognized Ron Fletcher's immense contribution to the evolution, promotion and preservation of the Pilates method over the past 4 decades. Fletcher's most significant contributions include the creation and development of the Percussive Breath® Technique, Fletcher Towelwork®, Fletcher Floorwork®, and the Fletcher Spine Corrector® Program. Devoted Fletcher Pilates® students and teachers continue to fill Fletcher's seminars around the world - as he approaches his 90th birthday.
